It is passable, it just looks like it may not be. Here, at least, road improvements are being done. It is difficult because of the amount of rain which causes landslides and landslips, where the ground under the road gives way. The road breaks away and often ends up at 2 different levels. It makes paving a road very difficult to do and to maintain. It has been said that the road to Madang was all paved at one time, but in some places it will just never be able to be so again.
