Roses in the foreground are "Carefree Wonder." Those on the trellis are "Heart 'n Soul." Both are shrub roses.

Seen here are the white blooms of the plant "Goatsbeard" along the sidewalk in the backyard.

This is a planter (foreground) of morning glories and moon flowers that we hope will climb and form a plant trellis on the south side of the front porch. We'll see . . . . . . .

This bed is near Dauphin Street. It has mostly shrub roses. The new sidewalk to the left is brick.

Jim calls this the "hosta that didn't get away." The hosta is an "Elegans" and has since been divided into several smaller ones and sold.

Jim added a wall to the south side bed and another plant bed. The little spruce in the background is a "Fat Albert Colorado Spruce."

We enlarged the bed on the corner.

In the meantime, our regular mallard couple visits the pond in the backyard.

Spring of 2007 shows the beginning of the beds. Some of this would change again!

The beds are taking shape and will be planted in the spring. Notice that the Norway maple is gone!

Jim laid the brick himself over a period of many days. He did have helpl from Jordan and Sandy one weekend. Thank you!

Welcome to "Heavenly Hostas; Genes designed by God Himself", a web site for our family and friends and especially Hosta Holics. My husband, Jim, is one. I am showing the progress of our yard over the last 10-15 years. Right now, we are getting ready to be on the Garden Walk in Green Bay, Wisconsin, July 2007. I have started this blog at the encouragement of our three sons, all of whom live out of town, but would like to keep up with what Dad is doing.
